The Harbor in History

The firs big harbor was built by the Phoenicians, right where it still sands today. The following rules focused more on the agricultural side of the island and sea activities decreased. The strong and frequent winds that can make docking hard well explain the nickname Daughter of the Wind given by the Arabs.

During the fascist era the island was really considered and fortified because of its strategic position. This is why it underwent heavy bombings during the Second World War. The new harbor has not been completed yet.
